Planning is often something of an issue on the factory floor of a large organisation, particularly if the production line consists of many different activities. The planner must take the availability of the workers into account in order to affectively manage their work time. Production Manager Raf Vrijens of the Henrad radiator manufacturer has experience in this respect. “I manage the planning for the overall production line: 70 people spread over 25 to 30 jobs. Previously, I never had a clear verview of staff availability, and it took me a lot of time to find out who was available for work and when.” But those days are over. Since 2011, he has been preparing his schedules with the Protime planning module.

A synchronised registration system by Erwin Klomp, ArcelorMittal Projects Europe

From the receptionist behind the front desk all the way up to the crane operator and the welders on the shop floor. Today everybody at ArcelorMittal Projects Europe in Heijningen uses Protime. The system was implemented during 2008 to the point that it is now impossible to imagine life at the steel giant wthiout it. “There was some resistance among staff in the early days”, IT manager Erwin Klomp concedes. “However, now everybody is on board, and the beauty of it is that, the final conclusion amongst employees and Managers is using Protime does not mean less, but more freedom.”

Workforce Management system by Maurice Olde Heuvel, Stegeman

Processed meats manufacturer Stegeman makes a wide variety of products. This means that the production lines often have to be converted, with many engineering and logistical employees working alongside the production staff.
